Covered with dense pine forest, the island was named Korkyra Melaina, meaning “Black Korčula”, by the Greeks in the 3rd century B.C.
Korčula enchants the senses with its timeless beauty and casts an everlasting spell of wonder on those who tread upon its ancient stone. Lose yourself in Korčula's narrow walkways and discover antique palaces and elegant houses. Wait for the evening to reveal a glorious sunset.
After the walking tour of Korčula, we will proceed to small pictures places. They first founded Lumbarda, looking for a new location for vineyards. Lumbarda is a small fishermen's village. It is situated in the eastern part of the Island of Korcula, about 5 kilometers from Korcula Old Town.
The village is built around a small bay and on the hills behind it and is surrounded by large sandy vineyards. To reach Lumbarda we will have a pleasant drive along passing through a picturesque area of pine woods and olive groves.
