Trogir - The Unesco City

Trogir, Croatia

Trogir, the city with 2300 years of tradition, is a remarkable example of urban island settlement from the Hellenistic period. In first century Trogir became Roman municipality ‘Tragurium’, and joined to Salona, center of Roman province of Dalmatia. Upon the fall of the Roman Empire, Trogir has become an independent town. It has beautiful Romanesque churches which are complemented by the outstanding Renaissance and Baroque buildings from the Venetian period, and in 1997 UNESCO acknowledged Trogir as a World cultural Heritage.
