Trogir - The Unesco City

Trogir, Croatia

Trogir, the city with 2300 years of tradition, is a remarkable example of urban island settlement from the Hellenistic period. In the first century, Trogir became a Roman municipality, ‘Tragurium’, and joined Salona, the center of the Roman province of Dalmatia.

Upon the fall of the Roman Empire, Trogir became an independent town. It has beautiful Romanesque churches,s which are complemented by the outstanding Renaissance and Baroque buildings from the Venetian period, and in 1997, UNESCO acknowledged Trogir as a World Heritage.
